Chief Terrence Green would like to notify the Town of Lexington community that the Lexington Police Department, along with law enforcement agencies statewide, will be participating in the Sober or Slammer! campaign through the Labor Day weekend with enhanced DUI enforcement.

For the next two and a half weeks, officers of the Traffic Safety Unit and the Patrol Division will be focused on DUI enforcement, along with participating in several public safety checkpoints.

The Sober or Slammer! campaign falls under the South Carolina Department of Public Safety Target Zero initiative to end all highway fatalities and is part of the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over crackdown coordinated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This national effort includes state and local law enforcement agencies across the country and this campaign combines high-visibility enforcement with heightened public awareness through advertising and publicity.
