Warmer weather is on the horizon, Spring has Sprung! As we enter a new season, the Town is in full force celebrating Mother Nature and helping the environment.
Our annual Great Lexington Cleanup will be at the end of the month, and is sure to once again be a success. Last year civic and school groups rolled up their sleeves and collected one ton (2,000 lbs.) of trash throughout our neighborhoods.
Along with the Cleanup, headed by the Town's Advisory Committee, they are also one of several local agencies joining forces with the Lexington County Stormwater Consortium to help develop a new educational campaign to promote the benefits and needs of clean stormwater.
One educational tool is the Build your Own Rain Barrel Workshop, hosted by the Lexington County Stormwater Consortium . The event will take place on Thursday, April 12 from 1:00pm-4:30pm at the Lexington Fire Training Facility (436 Ball Park Rd.). The program is $25 and will teach participants about stormwater runoff, water pollution and rainwater harvesting. For more information or to register contact (803) 359-8515 ext 121.
Finally, Town staff is also working hard to transform the old "Shoebox" located at 206 N. Church St. into the new indoor Farmers Market, which will kick off the season on Saturday, May 12. Stay tuned for more information on vendors, times, etc.
The time is now, take a few minutes to enjoy the natural beauty of Lexington and help keep it clean!
