Cribb's Sandwich and Sweet Shop - 108 South Church Street
This building, constructed circa early 1900's currently houses Cribb's Sandwich and Sweet Shop. It was formerly a funeral home, demonstrating how older structures can be adapted for reuse. Before the current structure was built, a cotton warehouse was located on the site. Although cotton was grown in Lexington and was an important cash crop, it never obtained the prominence that it had in other counties throughout South Carolina. Lexington was an important source of food crops such as sweet potatoes and corn. Lexington's farms were often small due to the poor condition of the soil in the majority of the county.
