First and foremost, I would like to wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Great things are in store for your Town in 2011, including the celebration of our 150th Anniversary.
Among the year-long celebration of our sesquicentennial, Council and staff are working on many projects that will help improve the quality of life for our residents.
This year alone, we will be tackling three major issues: water and sewer upgrades, sidewalk improvements and creating the Town's Vision plan, which will help us prepare for 2040 and beyond.
Our Utilities Department is beginning the initial upgrade of pump stations that will cost $5.6 million and will make serving our residents easier and utility customers and more efficient. With the assistance of grant money which we have been actively pursuing, we will be installing new sidewalks on Church Street, Gibson Road (100% funded) and George Street (100% funded). Finally, in December we introduced you to our Vision Plan. During 2011, we will be continuing to take your suggestions and will present you with our formula in shaping the future to help the Town grow for generations to come.
Thank you for your continued support and participation in making the Town of Lexington a great place to live, work, learn and play. I look forward to a wonderful year!
