February 2011

I can't believe we are already in full throttle for 2011. It has been quite an eventful start to the new year, especially our "Snow Storm". I want to take a moment to commend our Police Department and Parks, Streets and Sanitation Department for working tirelessly, while most of us stayed inside our warm homes, to ensure our residents were provided the safest passable conditions for those who needed to travel. Emergencies such as this are a testament to the quality of life we strive to provide, rain or shine.

Speaking of accomplishments, the Town of Lexington had a good 2010 with several projects including: the creation of the Business and Development Services Center, construction of the Scenic Overlook at Gibson Pond Park, launch of RAIDS Online by the Police Department and receiving the statewide 2010 Municipal Association of South Carolina Achievement Award for our newest outdoor facility, Caractor Park.

These are just a few of the great things that will be highlighted during my State of the Town Address. Council and I are proud to discuss these achievements and inform you of the tasks we plan to accomplish in 2011,reinforcing why the Town of Lexington is a stellar community to live, work, learn and play.

Please make plans to attend the State of the Town Address on March 7, 2011 at 6:30pm in Council Chambers. If you cannot be present, you can view the address live on Channel 2 and on our Channel 2 On Demand. See you then!
